Emma comes from Tillicoultry, a lovely town from which the river Devon lies South to. In 2018, she graduated with an MChem in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh. In 2016, she completed a 12-month placement at MedImmune, working on the analysis of peptides aggregation in the formulation department. She completed her final year project on the synthesis of fluorescent probes with Prof. Marc Vendrell. In 2018 she started her PhD in the Burley group as part of the CDT in Optimal Medical Imaging, investigating ynamines and calcium imaging.

She likes cooking, eating and drinking. Her knowledge of Love Island and other reality TV shows offered a the Burley group an otherwise undeserved 3rd position at a pub quiz.
