Ivan comes from golden Dobrudja, Dobrich, Bulgaria. In 2021, he obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Strathclyde where he studied Chemistry with Drug Discovery. Ivan’s final year project focused on rationalising protein-ligand interactions using Artificial Intelligence under the supervision of Dr David Palmer. Ivan joined the Burley group in 2021  for his Computational and Theoretical chemistry PhD studies, developing and applying computational methods in supporting the development of synthetic transcription factors.

Personal Facts

Ivan lived in the Netherlands where he picked up kitesurfing and wakeboarding. Now he enjoys not only the sunny, warm days but also the windy, cloudy ones.

  • 2021 – Andersonian Centenary Medal Prize for the most outstanding student of 2020/2021 academic session (University of Strathclyde).
