Jack was raised in a village called Law in South Lanarkshire. Jack did his undergraduate masters at Strathclyde studying chemistry with drug discovery. He completed a one-year industrial placement at Veranova in Edinburgh, working on process chemistry of pharmaceuticals. His master’s project was undertaken in Prof. Craig Jamieson’s group, focusing on the development of novel N-terminal domain antagonists of the androgen receptor for the treatment of prostate cancer, during which he won the Syngenta prize for preparative chemistry for his excellent work throughout his MChem. In 2023, Jack has joined the Burley group for his PhD, focusing is on the synthesis of next-generation bio-orthogonalynamine reagents for the preparation of antibody-drug conjugates.
