Qualification:

Karina grew up in Hong Kong. As she could no longer ignore the UK’s calling, she moved to Bath in 2014. She obtained an MSci in Natural Sciences (chemistry with pharmacology) at the University of Bath in 2019. Her degree included a 12-month placement in GSK where she worked on medicinal chemistry for fibrosis and lung injury. She gained experience in photoredox catalysis during her final year project in the group of Dr. Alexander Cresswell. In 2019 she started her industrial PhD at GSK, in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde, researching novel Antibody Drug Conjugates. Throughout summer 2022, the Burley lab was lucky enough to get Karina to spend 3 month (sadly no longer) in Glasgow with us.
